HURRICANE SANDY APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE:
REBUILDING THE JERSEY
SHORE……The
Shore Region Tourism Council a New Jersey Non-Profit has been serving
Monmouth and Ocean County businesses since its inception in 1985. In 2009
we began to do business as the Jersey Shore
Convention and Visitors Bureau as part of our international certification
process through DMAI (Destination Marketing
Association International). The JSCVB Jersey Shore
Convention and Visitors Bureau is one of only 14 other Destination Marketing
Organization sponsored by the State of New Jersey Division of Travel and
Tourism represents businesses and attractions within
Monmouth and Northern Ocean Counties. Of the
87 municipalities,
represented over 60 towns within
our region sustained a direct hit from Hurricane Sandy and the remaining
sustained moderate damage from the residual.
The Shore Region Tourism Council or the JSCVB incorporates Monmouth and
Ocean Counties. There are more than 260
hotels and accommodations offering over 5800 rooms, three conference centers
22 theaters, 15 shopping centers including
outlet centers and flea markets, dozens of historic sites including renowned
lighthouses and Monmouth Battlefield Park, two
Racetracks, two auto racing venues and several nationally recognized
destinations including Six Flags Great Adventure as
well as magnificent parks and approximately 50 miles of world famous Jersey
Shore with its magnificent beaches and
exciting boardwalks.
The Jersey Shore sustained a direct hit to the heart of the tourism industry
as Hurricane Sandy damaged and destroyed more
than 50 miles of the Jersey Shore and dozens of communities from Long Beach
Island to Keansburg. Our member’s homes,
businesses and property were impacted as well as the property and homes of
our communities and guests.
The Tourism Industry needs your help immediately. Many organizations are
helping the individuals that have lost homes
and are flooded out. Now is the time to help with the rebuilding. Many
local businesses were without power and were
inoperable throughout the storm. Once the storm subsided they purchased
generators and supplied food and necessary
amenities to volunteers and emergency workers at no charge. Now a few weeks
after the storm and the towns are cleaned
up, these businesses are struggling to make ends meet. Please consider
making a contribution to our stores.
Moving ahead
requires help from all of you. There will be many fund raisers, special
events and concerts to help us here at the shore in
the coming months. The best help you can give is to support the shore towns
by visiting us, eating in the restaurants, shopping the
downtowns , staying in one of our B&or hotels and supporting
events that are still open this fall and winter starting now.
There are so many businesses that weathered the storm.
Now is the time to help those who risked their personal safety, donated time
and resources and made it possible to house
relief workers, feed the weary and kept us warm and dry. Below are several
ways to directly contribute to the needs of the
communities. The proceeds will go directly to benefit the needs of these
businesses that need help. One of the most horrific
things is to survive the storm and loose a business due to the after affects
of the storm. Help us recover from the storm.
Help us keep you informed of the great things happening at the shore.
Should you wish to send a contribution please make
checks payable to the Shore region Tourism Council or by credit card please
choose one of the options below? Again, as
the only State of New Jersey recognized DMO for Monmouth and Northern Ocean
Counties we ask for you direct help and
financial support.
